Infertility is the inability to conceive after one year of trying. Nearly one in
eight couples who desire to have a baby is infertile. Several simple tests can
identify the cause of infertility, which is just as often found in the male as
it is in the female. Many times multiple causes can be diagnosed. Only rarely,
no apparent reason for infertility can be found.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a method of assisted reproduction in which a
man's sperm is combined with a woman's egg in a laboratory dish.
Fertilization occurs in the dish and the resulting embryo is transferred to the
uterus to develop naturally. IVF has been successfully done in the United States
for 18 years. Over 45,000 babies have been born (just in the United States) as a
result of IVF.
Children resulting from IVF have the same incidence of birth defects as children
conceived without medical intervention. The process may seem a little artificial
at times, but we can assure you that these babies will kick, spit-up, scream and
keep you awake at nights just like any other baby.
It is a fact that over six million people in the United States alone are
affected by infertility and many of those people deal with the enormous stress
related to the condition. The incredible staff at the Advanced Health

Infertility not only affects females but males as well. Infertility is a
condition that inhibits the ability to conceive and deliver a child. Infertility
is the inability to conceive after one year of trying with unprotected
intercourse for couples in which the female is under 35 and six months of trying
for couples in which the female is over 35.
Approximately one in six couples are affected by infertility and there are a
number of factors, both male and female, that can cause the condition. In fact,
in only one-third of infertility cases is the cause attributed to the female. It
is a fact that surprisingly one-third is attributed to the male. The final
one-third of the cases can be either be attributed to both as a cause or simply
unknown.
Once the cause of infertility has been determined, a plan can be customized for
the patient to fit their unique situation and move them along on the path to
conceiving a
child. In fact, nearly 90% of infertility cases are treatable with medical
therapies such as drug treatment, surgical repair of reproductive organs and
assisted reproductive
techniques such as in vitro fertilization.
