What is polycystic ovarian syndrome?
Giving birth to a child is the most pleasant experience for a woman.
Spirit of being a woman lies in the fact when she is able to conceive a child
and show her motherhood. But women who are not able to do this feel that they
are incomplete, their life has no meaning. A woman life is considered complete
when she becomes mother and if it does not happen she feels very depressed and
frustrated.
One important thing that you should know is that infertility is not only caused
by the malfunctioning of organs but also by the hormonal disorders. One of the
symptoms is polycystic ovarian syndrome. Polycystic ovarian syndrome is also
known as Stein-Leventhal syndrome, ovarian hyperandrogenism, sclerocystic ovary
syndrome and ovarian hyperthecosis.
But what is polycystic ovarian syndrome? Studies reveal that one of every ten
women suffers from this problem or disease. Due to this problem fertility,
monthly flow, hormones, menstrual cycle gets affected. Not only this, it also
has negative impacts on heart, blood vessels and appearance of the women. Women
suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome experience the problems of irregular
flow and their ovaries get filled with lots of fluid filled cysts. Research is
still going on this field to find out the exact cause of this disease. It is
also considered as a hereditary disease, because there is a chance that if any
relative of a woman is suffering from the same, it is possible that she might
also have the same disease. Probability is more in these types of hereditary
cases. This disease is a very complex type, so experts are also unable to find
the exact reason responsible for this problem. Insulin is also considered as one
of the factor responsible for this, as there are many women who have unused
insulin
in their bodies. Insulin is responsible to raise the production of androgen.
This affects the functioning of female anatomy like hair growth, ovulation and
weight gain. Body of the women fails to provide all the needed hormones for the
ovulation and menstrual cycle gets disturbed and becomes irregular. Sacs
containing eggs just remain stable and become cysts which produce androgen that
prevents ovulation further. Still doctors are unable find a perfect tool that
can show that a woman is really suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Normally the treatment therapy includes the use of pills of birth control,
diabetes tablets, hormone and fertility medicines etc. surgery and modifying the
lifestyle of a woman also becomes part of the treatment. Woman undergoing
medical treatment of this disease normally doesn’t get the treatment for this
disease rather she gets the treatment for the problems related to this disease.
Lots of discovery and development can be done in polycystic ovarian syndrome, so
that life of many women can again get on track and they can live happily. There
is a need to understand this disease deeply. Understanding can help in
preventing this disease.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is now curable and the women suffering from this
problem can live a normal life. Many women have succeeded in overcoming this
problem and are having children also to make their family a complete and happy
