Surrogate mother is the woman who agrees to become a mother by contract or fees.
Need of a surrogate mother arises when the couple is not able to become parent
of a child because of infertility or any other problem. Surrogate mother is
considered as the biological mother of the child. Such type of pregnancy is made
possible by artificial insemination. Eggs of wife and sperm of husband are
combined and the embryo is planted in the uterus of the surrogate mother.
There are many reasons due to which a woman decides to be a surrogate mother.
Money is considered to be the main reason.
It is not true always that a women can’t take such a hard decision only for
money. Lots of time is spent in the process of getting pregnant and giving birth
to a child and also the discomfort level is high in such cases. Arrangement for
ideal situation can take 12 to 18 months and in some cases duration can increase
even more. Testing, interviews and examinations arrangements involves a lot of
time. Sometimes the reasons are personal, while sometimes the step is taken for
the one who are close friends or family friends. The feeling of giving birth to
a child for someone else is very hurting. Some women are not able to digest the
fact that the child they are carrying will get apart from them. Whatever may be

When the transfer becomes successful and the woman is able to become pregnant
and give birth to a child, she will carry the child to the parents for whom she
did so. Surrogate mother may even breast feed the baby.
