Understanding pcos
PCOS is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which is responsible for the abnormal behavior
of your ovaries which results in irregular menstrual cycle.
Less ovulation or no ovulation, infertility is also the causes of pcos. This is
the common cause of fertility which occurs in 5 to 10 % of women. Symptoms of
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome are not easily identified till after puberty, when
menstrual cycle begins. Changes in hormones start beginning at an early stage of
menstrual cycle. There are many symptoms through which pcos can be identified
such as:
Increase in hair of body and facial
Color gets dark of some parts of body
Problem of obesity
Irregular menstrual cycles
Periods not occurring
Vaginal infection
Situation that is the cause of pcos gets produced by the pituitary gland.
Pituitary gland is the master gland in your body which controls all the hormones
of your body. In Polycystic Ovary Syndrome hormones gets out of sync. All this
creates hormonal problem in your body and affects ovulation.
If you have a normal menstrual cycle then you will have normal ovulation, one
egg will get fertilized and will be released every month, due to this activity
progesterone level rises. In the type of polycystic ovary, many follicles are
there which dont get matured and therefore no egg release takes place. When egg
will not be released by the ovary, progesterone level will not rise and will
remain low.
Insulin is a type of hormone that controls the use of sugar of your body, and
also plays important role in pcos. Body of women who are suffering
frompolycystic ovary syndrome produce insulin in greater quantity or on the
other hand does not produces insulin at all. Because of this insulin halts the
normal growth of the follicle in ovaries.
Many conditions are responsible for pcos condition. This condition is also
considered as a genetic disorder. There are chances that if you have such a
disorder than it is from birth. It can also get passed from you to your
daughter.
If you are in a process of diagnosis, you will be asked a few questions related
to your health, your family and menstrual cycle. Physical examination of yours
may also be conducted.Treatment of this problem depends on the type of symptom.
Woman suffering from this problem should be careful about the health related
problems. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome also increases the chances of heart disease
and high blood pressure. In some cases pcos can never be cured totally, though
you are able to live a healthy and normal life with proper treatment.
So, if you are having the problem of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome then you should
be able to identify the symptoms so that you may get the treatment at an early
stage. If you want to get pregnant without any complexities then you have to be
careful from all the related symptoms and should be able to identify if any
problem occurs related to fertility, ovulation or irregular menstrual cycles.
