Reproductive Science Center
Since 1988, RSC has performed more than 20,000 IVF treatments, making impressive
strides in the treatment of infertility and assisted reproductive technologies.
As part of a widely respected national network of fertility specialists for
close to 20 years, we have enjoyed preferential access to the latest medical
developments and advanced methods in in vitro fertilization (IVF), IUI and
related treatments.
Today RSC is led by a team of six physicians who have been specially trained in
reproductive endocrinology and fertility – four of whom are women, representing
one of the largest groups of female fertility specialists in the United States.
The medical, nursing and embryology staffs work closely with a team of
counselors and therapists
specializing in infertility counseling.
Many ART procedures involve in vitro fertilization, the process in which eggs,
retrieved from the ovary, are fertilized in the laboratory with the partner’s
sperm (or donor sperm, if necessary). Subsequently, the resulting embryos are
transferred into the woman’s uterus.
A physician prescribes medications or hormones in order to increase the
likelihood of collecting multiple eggs and to control the timing of your cycle.
You and your partner may administer these medications on a daily basis within
the privacy of your home. The clinic staff then monitors your progress by
evaluating the number of ovarian follicles in development through vaginal
ultrasonography and serial blood samples taken at the clinic. A follicle is a
sac of fluid in the ovary which may contain an egg (oocyte). A physician
determines the number and frequency of these tests.
If the embryos have developed normally after incubation, a physician transfers a
predetermined number of embryos through the cervix into the uterus via a small
catheter (hollow tube). The patient and her physician determines the number of
embryos for transfer based on individual circumstances such as age and medical
history. No anesthetic is required for this painless procedure, although valium
is given for uterine relaxation.

Every month a fertile woman releases an egg and her body prepares for a
fertilised egg to implant. Her cycle is controlled by hormones secreted by her
brain and is most noticeably marked by her ‘period’.
Women have a limited number of eggs within their ovaries and these reduce in
number and quality as you get older. Every month the hormone signal from the
brain causes a number of eggs to start to grow. Each egg is encased within a
special set of cells called the follicle which helps the egg develop and grow.
In a normal cycle only one egg will develop to maturity and be released. This is
why most naturally occurring pregnancies result in a single baby.
During the time the egg is growing the lining of the womb also starts to
thicken. This is a highly specialised environment where the early embryo will
attach and implant.
Approximately 14 days after the start of her last period (and therefore 14 days
before the next) the woman will release the ripe egg in a process termed
‘ovulation’. This is
therefore the best time to have intercourse and try for a baby.
The egg then enters the fallopian tubes and for about 24 hours remains at a
stage in which it may be fertilised. If the egg is fertilised it will begin to
develop into an embryo as it passes down the tube. Between five and nine days
later the embryo will reach the womb and implant.

Birmingham Acupuncture UK Infertility
Acupuncture has been used for healing by the Chinese for thousands of years. The
basis of its theories lie in simple, natural laws that govern our health and
well being within a balanced environment.
The Chinese believe that if this balance is lost, illness and disease follow.
My personal style of Acupuncture or Accupuncture (as it is spelt sometimes) is
very different from other styles as it incorporates the knowledge and experience
I have
accumulated over many years of research and study of a subject that is as
fascinating as it is diverse. The effectivenes of this medicine for Infertility
in the right hands can give amazing results.
Not every Acupuncturist is the same, they differ in style and treatment
protocols for Infertility treatment depending on their experience and training.
If you have tried
Acupuncture in the past unsuccessfully I would strongly recommend that you try
my infertility treatment style to obtain results. My treatments have also helped
with habitual miscarriage and other gynaecological conditions that do not
respond well to western medicine
